New research shows that American couples of European ancestry go for mates with versions of immune genes that recognise pathogens dissimilar from those their own genes recognise. These genes are part of the major histocompatibility complex, and the more MHC genes a person has, the greater variety of pathogens his or her immune system recognises.

Previous work in fish, lizards and birds has suggested that animals seek out mates with different MHC genes than their own. Yet studies in humans have painted a far blurrier picture of MHC-driven mating preferences.

One study concluded that Hutterites, who live communally, wed people with different versions of the genes, while another found that women prefer the scent of sweaty T-shirts worn by men with similar MHC genes. However, an additional sweaty T-shirt experiment using slightly different methods showed just the opposite trend.
http://www.freeintertv.com/news_pic/christ.jpgRussian scientists noticed the image of Jesus Christ on the meteorite which fell down on the Earth about 100 years ago. The image is identical to the one that appears on the Shroud of Turin.

The meteorite cracked into two as it rammed into the planet in the Far East of Russia. The image of Jesus Christ’s face can be seen on the split. The meteorite was dubbed Boguslavka, after the village where it had been found. The face of Jesus Christ on the meteorite is just the same as on the Shroud of Turin, the linen cloth bearing the image of a man who appears to have been physically traumatized in a manner consistent with crucifixion. It is kept in the royal chapel of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, Italy. It is believed by many to be the cloth placed on Jesus of Nazareth at the time of his burial.

The meteorite is now kept at the Moscow-based Geological Museum.

“The Boguslavka meteorite fell down in the Far East, 220 kilometers from Vladivostok. All the people in the village were watching the meteorite falling. One of the villagers even made a drawing of the remarkable phenomenon with water colors,” says Michael Nazarov, the head of the museum.
http://www.freeintertv.com/news_pic/2503.jpgThe authorities of the Russian town of Kemerovo arranged a special expedition to find the yeti habitat which was discovered by Google maps.
Recently there have been more than 20 claims from the local hunters who said they had seen strange creatures in the forests. These creatures resembled yeti. After the claims from the local hunters Kemerovo authorities decided to create the team of scientists for yeti searches.

The expedition turned to be successful. Scientists managed to find ‘fresh’ yeti footprints in the Azassky cave.

Scientists found two identical yeti footprints. One of them was left on the rock and it dates back 5,000 years ago, and the other footprint which was left not long ago was found at the bottom of the cave.

“They are absolutely identical. Five thousand years ago yetis settled down in this cave and now their descendants are still living here. The conditions in the cave are suitable for yeti. The cave defends them from rains, snow and wind. There is also a lake in the middle of the cave where yetis can find clean water,” say the scientists.

Unfortunately, the scientists did not manage to see yetis that time. They say their snowmobiles were too noisy and yetis had to hide somewhere in the forests. However, the scientists say they managed to reach their main goal – they got the proof that yetis are living there. A new expedition to the site will be arranged this summer.
http://www.freeintertv.com/news_pic/1903.jpgChinese Premier Wen Jiabao is worried. His country keeps over $2 trillion of its foreign reserves in U.S. Treasuries. He’s afraid that Obama’s big spending plans will weaken the dollar and erode the value of those enormous assets. Given the dismal financial state of the rest of the world, that’s a pretty high-class problem, especially for a devout communist. Jiaboa called on the United States to “honor its word, stay a credible nation and ensure the safety of Chinese assets”.
The Dalia Lama must have enjoyed at least a chuckle over the spectacle of any Chinese official lecturing anyone about credibility or honor. But grotesque hypocrisy aside, Beijing is indeed Washington's biggest foreign creditor and self interest as well as common decency dictates that debts ought to be honored, even if the borrowed treasure was acquired by the forced labor of millions, including women and children kept for decades in unspeakable conditions.
http://www.freeintertv.com/news_pic/1803.jpgA drop of blood can tell a lot about a human being. One may use a drop of blood to find out all about a genetic profile or predisposition to various diseases. A drop of blood can provide the psychological profile of a person, indicate the compatibility with a sex partner and predict the duration of life. When scientists examined the human blood under the microscope for the first time, they found out that the blood had the cellular structure. The discovery made it possible to use the blood for diagnostics. The cellular analysis is used for the general, or the hematological blood test.
The complete blood cell count includes:

- the calculation of blood cells – the number of white blood cells, erythrocytes, thrombocytes, etc.

- the differentiation of blood cells, the percentage of the types of blood cells, which allows to see processes taking place in the human body, e.g. the progression of viral infections, the presence of toxic substances, etc.
